Françoise Surette

Françoise Surette, aged 40, sadly passed away on November 1, 2023, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC in Moncton after battling a long-term illness. She was born and raised in Moncton, the daughter of Louie and Denise Surette, who currently reside in Calgary, AB but were formerly from Moncton.

Françoise possessed an insatiable curiosity and had a wide range of interests that spanned a variety of subjects. She obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Concordia University and had a deep passion for art, music, and history. Known for her exceptional conversational skills, Françoise had a natural ability to engage with people from all walks of life. Even from her early years, she had a sociable nature, winning the “most sociable person” award in kindergarten. Throughout her life, she cherished her many friendships. Françoise found solace in nature and had a knack for discovering hidden gems. Her genuine authenticity, coupled with her wicked sense of humor and empathetic listening skills, made her a cherished individual.

Françoise is survived by her loving parents, Louie and Denise Surette, as well as her sister, Madeleine Fidler (Logan) of Calgary, AB. Additionally, she leaves behind her beloved nephew, Isaac, her paternal grandmother, Rita Surette of Dieppe, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Azor and Dolores Cormier, and her paternal grandfather, Raymond Surette.

The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton, on November 10, with visitation hours from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm. As per Françoise’s final wishes, there will be no funeral service. In memory of Françoise, the family kindly requests contributions to the CHU Dumont Foundation (Oncology).
