Frederick James Flesher, commonly known as “Eric,” passed away on July 31st, 2023 at the age of 85 at the Village of Winston Park in Kitchener, ON. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Shirley Flesher (nee Cooper) (1942-2017), their son James Eric Flesher (1968-2003), and their grandson Avery Levely-Flesher (1993-2017). Left to mourn his loss are his daughters Cheryl Bentley (Bill) from Waterloo, ON, and Moira Metcalfe (Tim) from Port Stanley, ON. Eric is also survived by his grandchildren Devon & Meagan Bentley, Chloe & Max Metcalfe, Jesseny Levely-Flesher & Cayden Larocque.

Eric was born in Grangemouth, Scotland, but he was raised in Cardonald, Glasgow from 1940, where he later served as an apprentice in the field of electrical work. He dedicated three years to military service in the RAF Police, stationed at RAF Aldergrove, Northern Ireland from 1959-1962. In 1966, Eric and Shirley made the decision to immigrate to Canada, accompanied by their two daughters. They initially settled in Sault-Ste-Marie, ON, and it was there that their son Jamie was born. The family then moved to Sarnia, ON in 1968, where Eric pursued a career as a maintenance electrician at Fiberglass Canada. In 1976, he transitioned into electrical construction and became a valued member of Local 530 IBEW, until his retirement in 1998.

Throughout his life, Eric and Shirley demonstrated their altruistic nature by volunteering for over 14 years with Sarnia-Lambton Victim services, eventually assuming the roles of Team Leaders. As per Eric’s request, cremation has already taken place, and a private family gathering will be arranged to honor his memory at a later date.
