Gail Melina Roy, a beloved individual who exuded love, creativity, and resilience, peacefully passed away on October 22 in London, Ontario at the age of 71 after bravely battling ALS. Born in Halifax in 1952, Gail left behind an enduring legacy that touched the hearts of many.

Throughout her life, Gail’s unwavering passion for photography served as a testament to her character. Her remarkable ability to capture the beauty of the world brought immense joy to those who encountered her work. For an impressive 25 years, Gail, alongside her ex-husband Marty Verweel, co-owned the Wortley Roadhouse—a thriving entrepreneurial venture. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Gail dedicated her time to being an influential advocate within her community and ralliying support for charitable causes. However, her greatest role was that of a devoted and loving mother to her cherished children, Katrina and Kaes Verweel, who held the most significant place in her heart. Gail took immense pride in their achievements and cherished every moment shared with them.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to Gail’s friends who stood by her side throughout her arduous battle with ALS. The companionship and unwavering support they provided brought immense comfort and light during her darkest hours. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Gail Roy’s extraordinary life will be held in the spring of 2024.
