George BEATTY

George Beatty, aged 74, passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Monday, July 3, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Diane (née Watts) for 50 years. George was a devoted father to Travis and Melanie Beatty and to Terri and Derek Grant. He took great pride in being a grandfather to Evan and Kara Grant, as well as Nolan, Beckett, and Brynnley Beatty. George will be missed by his sister Shirley (Pete) Runions, sister-in-law Pat Armstrong, and brother-in-law Norm (Marilyn) Watts. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, and their families. George was known for his love and care towards his “furbabies” who will greatly miss the treats he always showered upon them.

George was reunited in death with his parents Jean and Arnold Beatty, Diane’s parents Wilf and Martha Watts, and his brother-in-law Mace Armstrong. He was a man who possessed an array of talents and skills, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His determination, dedication, and passion were evident in everything he pursued, both in his professional work and personal interests. George found fulfillment in his trade as a carpenter, having the ability to envision the final outcome by simply looking at drawings. He was also deeply fond of sports and had a great appreciation for music, both as a listener and musician. George had a natural talent for drawing and photography, finding solace and joy in capturing nature through his camera lens. However, the true passion of his life revolved around horses. From his earliest memories with his own pony, to date nights with Diane spent cleaning stalls, George derived his greatest happiness from being with his horses, particularly Waco and Twisty Sugar.

Above all else, George was a devoted family man who eagerly supported his children and grandchildren in their various games and matches. Known for his teasing jokes and infectious laughter, George’s presence was always filled with love for his family. In accordance with George’s wishes, he was cremated and a celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, July 22, 2023, in Campbellford at the Campbellford Legion. The event will be held from 1-4 p.m., with remembrances being shared at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in George’s memory to the Lung Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation. The Dreisinger Funeral Home in Elmira is assisting with the arrangements, and further details can be found at their website, http://www.dreisingerfuneralhome.com.
