George JACKSON

George Robert “Bob” Jackson, 98, of Leamington, passed away on November 4, 2023. His wife Jini and son Paul preceded him in death, as did his sister, Margaret Mellon. Bob is survived by his daughter Lynn Jackson Gee and her husband Trevor of Sands Point, New York, his son David of Leamington, nephew Bob Mellon and his wife Lynn of London, and their children Brad and Andrea.

Born in 1925 to Wallace Foster Jackson and Helen Robina Webster, Bob served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1943-1945 and graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1949 with a degree in Business Administration. He joined the family business in 1949, which had been started by his grandfather George Wallace Jackson in 1887 as a stationery store, and later evolved into a furniture and china store. The store, Jackson’s Furniture & China, operated for 120 years and closed in 2007 when Bob retired at the age of 82.

Bob’s fondest memories were of the people he met during his 58 years in the store and he was known for chatting with everyone who crossed his path. He was also a dedicated member of the Leamington community and an early member of the Erie Shores Golf and Country Club. At his request, cremation has taken place and expressions of sympathy can be mailed to a P.O. Box in Leamington.
