George TWEEDY
George William Tweedy, a retired Principal from the Ottawa Board of Education, passed away on September 29, 2023, at the age of 84. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beverly Tweedy (McNaughton), and his parents, Arthur and Bessie Tweedy. George was a loving father to John (Nathalie) Tweedy and Cheryl (Mike) Hoganson, and a cherished grandfather to Damien, Colin, Kaleigh, and Graeme. He is survived by his brothers Ab and Ed Tweedy, and will be dearly missed by his extended family and friends. George will be remembered for his dedication to public education, his intellect, warmth, and wit.
A visitation for family and friends to pay their respects to George will take place at the Blair & Son Funeral Home in Perth on October 6, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on October 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception in the Blair & Son Family Centre. Interment will take place at Prestonvale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Prestonvale Cemetery, or a charity of choice. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated team at the dialysis unit of Queensway Carleton Hospital for their years of attentive care, as well as the staff of the ICU at the Ottawa General for their support and compassion during George’s final days.
