Giovanna Iachetta, age 85, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Glendale Crossing in London, Ontario. She was the cherished and beloved mother of Giovanni, Santino (Jeannie), Bellarosa, Gino (twin), Gino, and Frank (Angie). Giovanna will be deeply missed by her siblings, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her many friends in Sault Ste. Marie, Ottawa, and London. Born on January 7, 1938, in Italy, Giovanna was the daughter of the late Francisco and Francesca Guzzo Bonifacio. In 1967, she immigrated to Canada with her three young children and settled in Sault Ste. Marie. Giovanna was renowned for her exceptional culinary skills and was known for her wisdom, courage, and boundless love and dedication to her family.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, caring nursing staff, personal support workers, and all the staff members at Glendale Crossing who showed immense love and went above and beyond to ensure Giovanna felt at home and dearly loved during her final years.

Visitation will take place at Arthur Funeral Home on Friday, July 14, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel, located at 492 Wellington St E, Sault Ste. Marie, on Saturday, July 15, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to ARCH Hospice. Williams Funeral Home, located at 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas, is entrusted with the arrangements.

Giovanna was born on January 7, 1938, in Italy, to the late Francisco and Francesca Guzzo Bonifacio. She bravely immigrated to Canada in 1967, along with her three young children, and chose Sault Ste. Marie as their new home. Renowned for her superb cooking skills, Giovanna was also admired for her remarkable wisdom, courage, and unwavering devotion to her family.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, caring nursing staff, personal support workers, allied staff members, and the warm-hearted residents and their families at Glendale Crossing. Their exceptional love and care made Giovanna feel cherished and at home during her final years.

Visitation will be held at Arthur Funeral Home on Friday, July 14, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel, located at 492 Wellington St E, Sault Ste.
