Gladys Allard peacefully passed away on March 1, 2023, at the age of 101, after living a remarkable and fulfilling life. She will be fondly remembered by her loving family, including her daughter, Sandra (Tak Inouye), and son, Gary (Jolanda). Gladys also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Carol (Brent Clarke), Frank Inouye, and Michael (Sherry) Allard, as well as her great-grandchildren, Graham and David Clarke, Alexa and Richard Inouye, and Avery and Ashlyn Allard. Her passing deeply saddens her friends, neighbors, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Born on July 10, 1921, in York, England, Gladys was the only child of Alfred and Nellie Connell. In 1928, they immigrated to Toronto, Canada, where Gladys would later meet her beloved husband, Frank. Their marriage lasted an impressive 57 years until Frank’s passing in 1998. In 1986, they made the move to Richmond, where they settled down.

Throughout her life, Gladys was known for her outgoing and sociable nature. She effortlessly embraced new challenges and experiences. In 2015, Gladys relocated to Maples, where she reignited her passion for painting and crafting. Her creativity flourished in this new chapter of her life. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she was later moved to Minoru residence, where the staff affectionately gave her the nickname “Queen” in admiration of her vibrant personality and ability to captivate everyone around her.

Gladys Allard’s presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, joy, and artistic talent will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and community. Her extraordinary journey reminds us all to embrace each day with enthusiasm and to inspire others through our passions and zest for life.
