Gloria Rae Weitzel, formerly known as Gloria Rae Oehm, peacefully passed away at the age of 79 in her residence in Stratford, Ontario on September 23, 2023. She was a cherished mother to Lynn Mitchell (Mark) and LeeAnn Sealey (Peter), and took immense pride in her grandchildren: Brett Mitchell, Alec Mitchell, Jessica Sealey, and Isabel Sealey. Shirley Weitzel was her adored sister-in-law, and she was beloved by her nephews Dale, Perry, Todd, Craig, Walt, and Wade. Unfortunately, Gloria was predeceased by her husband Robert F. Weitzel, her parents Mervyn and Annabel Oehm, her brother and sister-in-law Floyd and Ida Smythe, her brother Owen Smythe, and her sisters Gwen Marshall and Gail Morris.

Gloria’s formative years were spent in Shakespeare, Ontario, and she resided in Stratford for the majority of her life. She attended Stratford Central Secondary School and Wilfrid Laurier University. Throughout her career, she made significant contributions to Hendrickson Canada and concluded her work life as a Tour Guide for Cherry Bus Tours, a role that perfectly suited her love for traveling and effortlessly forming connections with people. Gloria was an avid baseball fan and had a penchant for Nascar. Her happiest moments were spent watching Toronto Blue Jays games, enjoying coffee with her close friends, or recounting old stories with neighbors, friends, and family. Known for her sharp wit, practical counsel, delightful sense of humor, and generous nature, Gloria’s greatest source of joy was her family.

Gloria Rae Weitzel will be deeply missed and forever cherished. A family celebration of her life will be held in Stratford at a later date. The family kindly requests donations to the Heart Foundation in lieu of flowers. If you would like more information, please visit http://www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com.
