Gordon Michie, a resident of St. Thomas, passed away on September 25, 2023, at the age of 80, in St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Newcombe) and the cherished father of Dawn, Becky, and Gordie. Gord was also a loved grandpa to Noah. He will be deeply missed by his dear sister Sharon and Karen. Unfortunately, Gord was predeceased by his sister Caraline, brother Wayne, and brother-in-law Cecil. Gord was also the brother-in-law of Pat, Jan, and Peter, and was predeceased by Mary Newcombe. He was born to parents May and Chuck Orr, and was also predeceased by his parents-in-law Betty and James Newcombe. Gord leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members whom he loved dearly.

Throughout his life, Gord served in the Army and held various positions at Wheat Sheave, Howarth fencing, Heath Chev Olds, St. Thomas Times Journal, Timkens, Knox Presbyterian Church, and even owned his own business, Gord Michie DJ service. He also worked as a crossing guard for the City of St. Thomas. Gord had a passion for travelling, particularly enjoying Caribbean Cruises. He took great pride in attending Paralympic and Special Olympic swimming competitions, and spent 22 years as a coach and volunteer for the Special Olympics. Gord loved spending time with his family, going camping, riding his scooter, and engaging in political discussions.

Visitation for Gord will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas, on Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Friday, September 29 at 1:00 p.m., followed by interment in St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Special Olympics Canada.

Rest in peace, Gord Michie. You will forever be remembered and missed by all whose lives you touched.
