Gordon UNGER

Gordon John Unger, a resident of St. Albert, passed away on July 14, 2023, at the age of 84. His devoted wife of nearly 56 years, Marion, and their children Kerry and Nikki, Teryl, and Karen, along with his brothers Ron and Bob, sister Lydia, and several in-laws, are deeply saddened by his loss. Gordon will be dearly missed by his friends at Sturgeon Valley Baptist Church (SVBC) as well. Predeceased by his son Steve, brothers Wally and Raymond, sister-in-law Lorna, and his parents, Gordon’s memory will be forever cherished by his loved ones.

Gordon held immense love for his family, church, and work. He dedicated 42 years of his life to the University of Alberta, leaving behind an admirable legacy. Being a charter member of SVBC, Gordon actively volunteered in various capacities, always ready to assist wherever needed. His expertise in Robert’s Rules of Order, as well as his meticulous leadership, made him a sought-after individual for multiple community boards.

A private family burial has already been held to pay homage to Gordon. A memorial celebration of his life will take place at SVBC, located at 51 Woodlands Road, St. Albert, on Thursday, August 10, at 2:30 p.m. The family extends their gratitude to the compassionate staff on unit 1 at Youville Home, as well as Fern Proulx, for their unwavering care and visits to Gordon over the past two years. In honor of his memory, Gordon’s family encourages everyone to savor a slice of pie.
