Harvey (George) Quackenbush peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the age of 78, leaving a void in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him. Harvey is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Suzanne (nee Reasbeck), as well as his siblings, Sister Sarah and Robert (Bonnie). He is also survived by his children, Greg (Paula), and Carole, along with his adoring grandchildren, Joey (Kaitlyn) and Valerie (Nathan), and great-grandchild Madeline. Harvey’s passing leaves behind a host of aunts, nieces, and nephews who will dearly miss him and his warm presence.

Remembered by many as a dedicated and spirited individual, Harvey led a life filled with love, adventure, and purpose. His passions and talents encompassed various aspects of life, including family, travel, and the joyous moments spent camping alongside loved ones at Bonanza Lake. Harvey was known for his tireless work ethic, always keeping himself occupied with diverse tasks. Moreover, he actively contributed to numerous local organizations as a dedicated volunteer, leaving a positive impact on his community. During his occupation at INCO spanning three decades, Harvey immersed himself in his work while ensuring to spread laughter through his jovial personality and knack for engaging conversations. His loved ones will fondly remember his lighthearted teasing and remarkable sense of humor, a constant source of joy for all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Devoted to his family, Harvey’s departure leaves a significant void in their lives. However, they will forever treasure and celebrate the memories they shared together, as well as the values he instilled in them. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate staff at Health Sciences North and the Northeast Cancer Centre for their exemplary care during Harvey’s illness. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Garson Food Bank or the Ronald McDonald House would be greatly appreciated as a gesture to honor Harvey’s memory.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Church located at 255 Church St., Garson.
