With deep regret, we inform the passing of Helen Elizabeth Flichel on May 29th, 2023. Helen was born in Langley, BC, and was the daughter of Herbert and Margaret (Hamblin) Pitman. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 52 years, John, along with daughters Kristy (George) and Holly Quintal (Jason). Helen is also survived by her sister, Sharron Jarvis, her niece Samantha Robinson (Trevor), her nephew Matthew Jarvis, and her cherished grandchildren, Kasey, Cooper, and Miller. Helen spent her early years in the close-knit community of Port Kells, where her family owned the Port Kells Garage for two generations. Throughout her life, she actively participated in Girl Guides, showcased her sewing talents, and found immense joy in camping and hiking adventures alongside John and their long-term friends. Helen took great satisfaction in working at Pan Am Bulbs and Ocean Spray, where she developed lasting friendships. The family intends to hold a memorial service dedicated to celebrating Helen’s remarkable life, with further details to be shared at a later date.

Sadly, Helen Elizabeth Flichel left this world on May 29th, 2023. Born in Langley, BC, she was the daughter of Herbert and Margaret (Hamblin) Pitman who preceded her in death. Survived by her loving husband, John, whom she shared 52 beautiful years with, Helen’s memory will forever be cherished by her daughters Kristy (George) and Holly Quintal (Jason). Additionally, Helen is survived by her sister, Sharron Jarvis, as well as her niece Samantha Robinson (Trevor), her nephew Matthew Jarvis, and her adored grandchildren; Kasey, Cooper, and Miller. Helen’s roots lay deep in the small community of Port Kells, where her family had been operating the Port Kells Garage for multiple generations. Engaging in numerous activities such as her involvement in Girl Guides, her exceptional sewing skills, and her unwavering passion for camping and hiking with her lifelong friends and John, Helen knew how to make life truly extraordinary. Her time at Pan Am Bulbs and Ocean Spray allowed her to form everlasting bonds. In honor of Helen’s extraordinary life, her family plans to hold a celebration of her existence; the details of which will be disclosed in due course.

Regrettably, on May 29th, 2023, we said our goodbyes to Helen Elizabeth Flichel. Originally hailing from Langley, BC, Helen was the daughter of the late Herbert and Margaret (Hamblin) Pitman. Left behind after her departure is her devoted husband, John, with whom she shared 52 loving years. Alongside John, Helen leaves behind her daughters, Kristy (George) and Holly Quintal (Jason), as well as her sister, Sharron Jarvis. With her upbringing in the close-knit Port Kells community, where two generations of her family operated the Port Kells Garage, Helen cultivated an active lifestyle filled with participation in the Girl Guides, showcasing her creative sewing abilities, and indulging in the pleasures of camping and hiking with her longtime companions. Throughout her dedicated years of service at Pan Am Bulbs and Ocean Spray, Helen built invaluable relationships that brought her immense joy. In remembrance of Helen’s remarkable journey, her family is organizing a celebration of life, and further information concerning this event will be disclosed in the future.
