Hélène passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023, at the age of [current age]. She defied the survival odds of cancer, a testament to her resilience and determination. Her family is immensely grateful for the extra years they had with her due to her courageous battle against the disease.

For many years, Hélène worked as a dedicated nurse at the Chatham hospital. Compassionate and kind-hearted, she touched the lives of countless patients, providing them with exceptional care during their most vulnerable moments. Even after retiring, Hélène remained deeply invested in medical and nursing issues, always staying up to date with the latest developments in the field.

Hélène’s love for animals knew no bounds. She went above and beyond to care for them, showing unwavering compassion and devotion. Additionally, she cultivated a beautiful garden, finding solace and joy in nurturing the plants and flowers that adorned her surroundings. Hélène found great pleasure in bringing happiness to others, especially her grandkids, whom she delighted by showering them with special treats. Her family and other visitors were not exempt from her generous gestures.

Hélène’s stepchildren are immensely grateful for the almost 20 years she spent as their father’s partner and second wife, as well as a loving grandmother to their children. She leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of her stepchildren Erin (Paul), Kathleen, Charlene (Aaron), Kristena (Ryan), and Thomas (Stephanie), as well as her step-grandchildren Claire, Blythe, Violet, Austin, Beau, Katie, and Tyler. Hélène is also survived by her sister Denyse and brother Gilles. She is predeceased by her first husband, Denis Copeland (2001), and her second husband, Clark Mifflin (2023).

Hélène, or as her French-speaking family members lovingly referred to her, “Nous t’aimons toujours Hélène!” will always be remembered and cherished. In honor of her memory, memorial donations can be made to the Chatham-Kent hospice or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
