It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Peter Armstrong of Lee Valley on October 19, 2023, at the age of 74. Ian is survived by his beloved partner and closest companion, Lise Bourcier. He is also survived by his sister Sue Angus (David) of Calgary and his brothers-in-law Richard (Robin), Mike (predeceased by Kim), Andrew (Alison), Chris (Jodi), and sister-in-law Nicky Hopkins (Jim) all residing in Espanola. Ian was predeceased by his father, Dr. Willard Armstrong, his mother, Jessie Armstrong, his brother Bill, and his sister Barbara (predeceased by Don Parson).

Ian was a cherished uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, but none held a more special place in his heart than his “best buddy ever” Roone and his beloved “telle belle fille” Jenna. Throughout his life, Ian greatly valued his friendships, and we offer a heartfelt thank you to Ernie Paul and his wife Marnie in Hornepayne for their love, care, and thoughtfulness during this challenging time.

Apart from his devotion to family, Ian’s greatest passion was the outdoors. Whether it was tending to his home in Lee Valley, embarking on annual hunting trips, or enjoying leisurely walks and drives with Lise and their dogs in the Valley, Ian found solace and joy in nature. Some of his fondest memories were spent with family at Cutler Lake.

Although we mourn the loss of Ian, we find comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his beloved canine companions: Brandy, Major, Trooper, Squirt, Shadow, and Blondie. Farewell, Ian. You will be dearly missed and forever loved.

A private interment of Ian’s ashes will take place at a later date in the Lee Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Pet Save Sudbury in Ian’s honor would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bourcier Funeral Home Ltd, Espanola.
