Ian B. Tod, a resident of St. Thomas, passed away at the age of 86 on Sunday, October 29th, 2023, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Marie Elizabeth Tod for over 64 years. Ian was the loving father of Christine DiDonato, Jacqueline Sullivan (Mark), Alison Molyneux (Phil), and Lindsay Tod (Kristie). He was also a dear brother to June Short. Ian adored his grandchildren, Danielle D’Angelo (Andrew), David DiDonato (Kezia), Brennan, Maggie, and Carson Sullivan, Arielle, Shelby Brokeboer (Wyatt), Jacob, Jackson Molyneux, and Mackenzie Tod. In addition, he was a dedicated great grandfather to Hannah, Sophia, Owen, Julia, and Lucus. Born on June 16th, 1937, in Glasgow, Scotland, Ian was the son of the late John and Florence Tod. He relocated to Canada in 1967 before settling in St. Thomas in 1979. Ian led a fulfilling career as an industrial engineer and designer, and he cherished his hobby as an avid cyclist. He was an esteemed member of the Evangelical Missionary Church.
A ceremony celebrating Ian’s life will take place on Friday, November 3rd, 2023, at Williams Funeral Home located at 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas, starting at 1:00 p.m. A visitation period will be held at the funeral home prior to the ceremony, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Ian’s remains have been cremated. The family kindly requests that donations in Ian’s memory be made to the ShareWord Global (Gideon Bible) or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
