Ida BRUNO

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Ida Bruno on October 28, 2023. A beloved wife, mother, nonna, bisnonna, and sister, Ida leaves behind a legacy of love and strength. Born on May 4, 1928, in Aiello Calabro, Cosenza, Italy, Ida married her husband Carmine in June 1951 and together they embarked on a journey of 72 years of marriage. They welcomed their three children, Concetta, Rosetta, and Pietro, and in October 1959, the family immigrated to Canada. Ida’s storytelling abilities and sense of humor endeared her to all who knew her, and her memory will forever be cherished.

Ida was a beacon of strength, always demonstrating kindness and generosity to others. She cherished her family and friends and found joy in their company. Through her acts of love, she imparted wisdom and life lessons to those fortunate enough to know her. Ida’s influence will live on through the memories she created and the virtues she embodied – love, kindness, strength, and perseverance.

Ida is survived by her loving husband Carmine, their children, Concetta (Ignazio) Gallace, Rosetta (Alfonso) Papaianni, and Pietro (Antonella) Bruno, as well as her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Eugenia Coccimiglio of Italy, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members in Canada and Italy. Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Luigi and Antonia Coccimiglio, as well as her siblings Rosina Pucci, Carmela Bernardo, Teresa Pucci, Carmine, Francesco, and Michele Coccimiglio, and Maria Pucci.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Thomas Ranieri for his exceptional care and support, Alberta Health Services Home Care, and Transitions Care for their assistance. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday, November 1, at 7:30 p.m. at Santa Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church, with the funeral mass taking place on Thursday, November 2, at 1 p.m. at the same church. Reverend Father Roy Antony, CFIC, will officiate, and Ida will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Mausoleum.

In lieu of other tributes, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Santa Maria Goretti Parish. Memories, photos, and condolences can be shared online at http://www.parkmemorial.com.
