Diane Leavitt (Petrunia) was born on February 15, 1943, in Cardston, Alberta. She peacefully passed away on July 19, 2023, in Calgary, at the age of 80, after experiencing complications from a stroke she had suffered in January. Diane’s parents, Hugh and Leticia, and her siblings Kathleen, Helen, and Calvin, predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her nephew Grant. Diane is survived by her son, Todd, her stepson Dean, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Christine, Barbara, Shanne, Kevin, Allen, Barry, Steve, Bruce, and Brad.

Diane’s early years were spent in Waterton, where she reveled in the beauty of nature and cherished the time spent playing with her sister, Helen. Later, her family relocated to Calgary, where she completed her education. Diane embarked on a fulfilling career as an Executive Secretary in the Petroleum Industry before transitioning to the Board of Education, where she served as a School Secretary. Making this career change allowed her to spend more quality time with her son, especially during the summer months. Retirement brought new opportunities, and Diane discovered a passion for writing. Under the pen name Deanna Lee Warren, she authored three books. In addition to her literary pursuits, she cherished the company of her beloved dogs. Diane will always be remembered as a caring mother, sister, aunt, and friend.

In accordance with her wishes, Diane requested that no funeral service be held. Instead, a private family celebration of her life will take place. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
