Isabella Kerr Allingham, previously known as Isabella Kerr Lynch, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2023, at Alexandra and Marine General Hospital after battling a long illness. She was survived by her children, Frank, Ian and his wife Kelly, and Diane and her husband Joe, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Born on February 19, 1938, in Glasgow, Scotland, Isabella and her husband Ian migrated to Canada with their children in 1967, settling in Kincardine. Following retirement, the couple moved to the Meneset Retirement Community near Goderich, where they enjoyed activities such as golfing, traveling, and spending quality time with their grandchildren. After Ian’s passing in 2011, Isabella remarried Jim Walter in 2015, indulging in various pastimes and trips together. Isabel was devoted to her cats, BJ and Henri, and spent her last months in Harbour Hill Retirement Community alongside them. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the medical professionals at Alexandra and Marine General Hospital and University Hospital in London for their outstanding care. A private family memorial will be held according to Isabella’s request.

Following Ian’s retirement, they relocated to the Meneset Retirement Community close to Goderich, where they rejoiced in activities such as golf, visiting Scotland, Ireland, and Portugal, and cherishing moments spent with their grandchildren. After the passing of her first spouse, Isabella met Jim Walter through mutual acquaintances, and the couple exchanged vows in 2015. Together they relished long drives, attended the performances of Scottish Pipe Bands in Goderich and Kincardine, practiced tai chi, engaged in cribbage, and embarked on trips to Ireland and England. During her final months, Isabella dwelled at Harbour Hill Retirement Community, accompanied by her beloved cats, BJ and Henri, whom she cherished deeply. Apart from her husbands, Isabella was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Lynch, her sister Jean Irving, her son-in-law Jeff Hawkins, and her dear friend Judy Sauder. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and nurses at Alexandra and Marine General Hospital and University Hospital in London for their remarkable care during this difficult time. Special thanks are also extended to Kylie, Molly, and Nicole for their attentive care during Isabella’s final hours. The remarkable staff at Harbour Hill Retirement Community are also acknowledged for providing a comforting and compassionate atmosphere during her last several months. Isabella’s wishes for cremation have been honored and a private family remembrance will be held. As someone with a lifelong love for animals, Isabella would request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a local pet charity.

The family is grateful to the physicians and nurses at Alexandra and Marine General Hospital and University Hospital in London for providing exceptional care. A heartfelt thank you is extended to Kylie, Molly, and Nicole, who attended to Isabel during her final moments. The outstanding staff at Harbour Hill Retirement Community were also instrumental in ensuring Isabel felt at home and received compassionate care throughout her last months. As per Isabel’s request, her remains were cremated and a private family memorial will be held. In honor of her lifelong love for animals, donations to a local pet charity would be greatly appreciated instead of flowers.
