James Chapman

James “LeRoy” Chapman, a resident of St. Thomas, peacefully passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the remarkable age of 92. He was deeply cherished by his loving wife, Anna (Rose) Chapman, and will be forever remembered as a devoted father to Annalee Lunn. James brought immense joy to the lives of his grandchildren, Stephen Lunn (Nancy) and Michael Lunn (Bonnie), and took immense pride in being a great-grandfather to Gavin Lunn, Owen Lunn, Tyler Lunn, and Mitchell Lunn. His memory will forever be treasured by those who knew him. James was preceded in death by his siblings Corinne Atkinson, Marion Rae, Bob Chapman, Bill Chapman, Dean Chapman, and Jack Chapman, as well as his son-in-law Robert Lunn. James, born in St. Thomas on May 13, 1931, was the beloved son of the late Roy and Pearl (Shepherd) Chapman. He was an active member of the Centennial Beavers Square Dance Club and enjoyed his regular gathering with friends at the McDonald’s coffee club.

The visitation for James will take place on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home, located at 45 Elgin St. St. Thomas. A funeral service will be held the following day, Monday, October 30, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. James will be laid to rest in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery, with interment to proceed after the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Parkinson Canada, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of personal choice. James will be deeply missed, and his legacy will live on forever in the hearts of those he touched.
