James Craig

James Leslie Craig, a beloved math teacher and avid golfer and curler, passed away on September 29, 2023, at the age of 82. He was surrounded by his loving family at the Glen Stor Dun Lodge. James was born in 1941 to Charles and Dorothy Craig (née Farlinger). He was predeceased by his wife, Jane Craig (née Whiteside), and his sisters, Helen Hawrylyshyn (late Ernie) and Lois Grant (late Bruce). James is survived by his children, Douglas Craig (Sima) of Ingleside and Ann Hornback (Allan) of Chapel Hill, NC, USA, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Robert and Maria Craig, and Hannah and Zachary Hornback.

For 31 years, James dedicated his life to teaching mathematics at CCVS, where he was beloved by his students and respected by his colleagues. He had a passion for education and was committed to instilling knowledge in his students. Outside of the classroom, James enjoyed spending his time on the golf course and curling rink, where he formed lasting friendships.

In accordance with James’ wishes, he was cremated. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, ON (613-938-3888), on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 9 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. The service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home, followed by interment at Salem Cemetery in Summerstown, ON.
