James Keats

June 20, 2023

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Ervin James Keats, affectionately known as Pa, who peacefully passed away on June 20, 2023, at the age of 87. Surrounded by immense love, Pa took his last breath while gently holding hands with Mom at Sechelt Hospital. Pa cherished his free time and relished in various activities with loved ones, such as engaging in lively card games, horseshoes, camping, traveling, curling, and partaking in board and yard games. Whenever Pa desired a quick match, he always wore a smile while playing crib.

For three decades, Jim dedicated his expertise as a Journeyman Millwright to Canfor at the Plywood plant. He poured his heart into his craft while spending countless hours in his workshop and tinkering with the motorhome. Jim’s legacy continues through his beloved wife Louise, their daughters Hope and Nicole (accompanied by Bruce), and his adoring grandchildren Hayden, Caleb, Amaya, and Dorian. Additionally, Jim leaves behind his surviving sister Marina, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Sadly, Jim was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Lena, as well as his three brothers, Frank, Russell, and Murray.

A memorable celebration of Jim’s life will take place on September 9th, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Harmony Hall, located in Gibsons, BC. In lieu of flowers, those inclined may choose to honor Jim’s memory by making a donation to the Memorial Fund of the Sunshine Coast Health Care Auxiliary Gibsons Branch. The fund supports the noble endeavors of the auxiliary and their invaluable contribution to the community’s healthcare welfare. As we continue to mourn Jim’s loss, his spirit lives on in our hearts, forever cherished and dearly missed.
