James NEMETH

It is with great sorrow that we share the unexpected passing of James Leslie Nemeth at the age of 62 due to complications from diabetes. James is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Lisa Nemeth (nee Walker), as well as his sons Matthew (Kate), Jordan (Dana), and Justin. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Chloe Ann and Austin Iain, his brother John (Joanne) Nemeth, and brother-in-law Doug (Jayne) Walker, as well as his niece and nephew Alison (John) and Andrew. James was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Eugene Nemeth, his in-laws Lynn and Douglas Walker, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Keith and Janice Walker.

Throughout his career, James worked in the oil and gas industry as an auditor and accountant for the University of Calgary. He was an active volunteer, dedicating his time to community and sporting organizations. James also coached his sons in hockey and baseball, with a highlight being coaching Matthew’s baseball team at the Little League World Series in 2001.

The family extends their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the PLC and Foothills Hospital, as well as the nurses and staff at the Home Hemodialysis Unit at the Sheldon Chumir Health Centre for their care of James over the years. A celebration of James’ life will take place at Eden Brook Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., followed by a time of fellowship in the reception facility. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Kidney Foundation of Southern Alberta.
