Jean REID

Barbra Jean Reid (June 28, 1938 – July 12, 2023) passed away peacefully at Riverside Glen, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the beloved wife of the late Gordon Reid, who passed away on July 7, 2017. Jean was in her 86th year of life and will be remembered for her hard work, dedication, and laughter, which revolved around her family and farm life.

Jean’s children, Linda Reid (Bob Robinson), Donald Reid (Anne), Ian Reid (Cathy), Debbie Squibb (Dean), Betty Sterritt (Paul Vanderpol), Bill Reid (Nancy), and Hannah Reid Bennett (Paul), will greatly miss her. She was a source of encouragement and inspiration for her grandchildren, Emily (James), Howard, Ken (Rhonda), Jessie, Rebecca (Chris), Chris (Renee), Stephanie, Alicia, Jeanette (Devon), Kim, Reg (Courtney), D.J. (Tasha), Angela, Michael (Becky), Ashley (Brandon), Alex (Sadie), David (Nicci), Steven, Kevin (Kate), Jenny Lou (Robin), Mandy (Brice), Laura (Lucas), Nicole (Dan), Bryan (Kaisu), Michelle (Ross), Kerry (Donnie), Michelle, Greg, Mackenzie (Shaely), William, Matthew, and Jake. Jean is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Maddy, Kamryn, Bodie, Deacon, Oliver, Evelynn, Quentin, Kynnlee, Paisley, Melaney, Maisey, Andrea, Brooklynn, Jackson, Penny, Lincoln, Sierra, Rylie, Rhett, Lane, Andrew, Logan, Lillian, Denver, Duncan, Arjen, Rowben, Mila, Leonie, Lennon, Bryen, and Violet. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Duncan (Ron), brother Bill Alexander (Susan), sister-in-law Myrtle Reid, brother-in-law Joe Zuest, and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Jean is now reunited with her siblings Mary Lou Alexander, Jessie Zuest, Ernie Alexander, as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law John Reid, Mary Garbutt (Don), Jim Reid (Hazel), Ken Reid (Lois), Joanne Stevenson (Mack), her parents Mac and Louie (Ruddell) Alexander, and father-in-law and mother-in-law Weir and Lizzie (McMeekin) Reid.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Riverside Glen, especially Kathy Benner, for their exceptional care and compassion. Friends and relatives are invited to pay their respects at the W.G. Young Funeral Home in Stratford on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12. The Reverend Fraser Williamson will officiate the service, and interment will take place at Avonbank Cemetery.
