Jenny DERING

Jenny Dering, also known as Jantje, peacefully passed away on September 9, 2023, at the age of 94 in the Kingston General Hospital. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Jerry Dering, who preceded her in death. Jenny was a loving mother to Jo-Anne, Carol, and Jerry, and a proud and cherished Oma to Jason, Ryan, Koby, Madalyn, and Jenny. She was also a doting great-grandmother to Jonas, Cassian, and Nora. She leaves behind her sister Hilly in Holland, and will be fondly remembered and loved by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and long-time friends in Canada and Holland.

A Celebration of Life to honor Jenny Dering will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Gordon F Tompkins Funeral Home – Township Chapel in Kingston. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Kingston General Hospital, Providence Care, and Extendicare Kingston for the compassionate care provided to Jenny during her time of need. Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations to be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice.

Jenny Dering, known to many as Jantje, peacefully departed from this world on September 9, 2023, at the Kingston General Hospital at the remarkable age of 94. She was a devoted wife and an inseparable companion to her late husband, Jerry Dering. Jenny’s warmth and love extended to her children, Jo-Anne, Carol, and Jerry, and her heart overflowed with pride and affection for her grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Koby, Madalyn, and Jenny. She took immense joy in being a great-grandmother to Jonas, Cassian, and Nora. Reflecting on her Dutch roots, she maintained a close relationship with her sister Hilly, who remained in Holland. Jenny’s memory will forever be cherished and her legacy lives on through the love she shared with her nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends in Canada and Holland.

On Sunday, September 17, 2023, a Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., offering an opportunity to honor and remember Jenny at the Gordon F Tompkins Funeral Home – Township Chapel in Kingston. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the dedicated healthcare professionals at the Kingston General Hospital, Providence Care, and Extendicare Kingston, whose compassionate care brought immense comfort to Jenny and her loved ones during her final days. In lieu of floral tributes, the family kindly requests memorial donations to be directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or any charity that holds personal significance.
