Jie Ying Yin peacefully passed away on September 23rd, 2023, at the remarkable age of 100. She was surrounded by her loved ones during her final moments. Preceded in death by her husband, Ying Lin MA, in 1992, Jie Ying Yin is survived by her two daughters, son, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Jie Ying Yin dedicated herself to making a difference in her community and the realm of education. She served as a dedicated teacher at Harbin University of Science and Technology, inspiring her students with her boundless enthusiasm and unwavering commitment.
Jie Ying Yin was not only cherished by her family as a centenarian, but her impact reached far beyond her immediate circle. During her stay in Vancouver for two and a half months, she forged meaningful friendships with individuals from Hong Kong and Taiwan. Every morning, she shared her knowledge of Tai Chi with them at Queen Elizabeth Park. Additionally, she showcased her talent by singing Peking opera at public gatherings.
Even after her husband’s passing, Jie Ying Yin continued to make significant contributions to her local community. She organized clubs focusing on laughter, dance, and singing, among other activities. Her ability to uplift, inspire, and connect with people was truly awe-inspiring, embodying the essence of greatness. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she set an example of the utmost dedication and love. The loss of Jie Ying Yin is deeply felt by all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed by her beloved family and friends.
