John “Johnny” Bohonos peacefully passed away at the age of 90 on August 8, 2023, at Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton. Born on May 9, 1933, in Winnipeg, Johnny began his broadcasting career in his hometown before moving to Alberta with his wife, Roslyn. Throughout his career, Johnny had the opportunity to interview countless renowned entertainers, and he also worked as an educator in the field of broadcasting and public speaking. Alongside his professional endeavors, Johnny dedicated himself to various community organizations, including the Lions Club, St. Andrew’s Orthodox Church, and the Kidney Foundation.

Johnny’s legacy of love and passion lives on through his beloved wife, Roslyn, his son, David (Costa), his daughter, Julie (Mitch McNeil), as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a deep appreciation for life and often emphasized the phrase “the beat goes on.”

A green burial service will be held on Friday, August 18, at 9:30 a.m. at Northern Lights Cemetery, located at 15203 Campbell Rd, Edmonton. Following the burial, a Celebration of Life will take place at 11 a.m. at Park Memorial Reception Centre, situated at 11015 – 101 St. In honor of Johnny, donations can be made to the Red Cross, his preferred charity.
