John Donald “Donnie” Coholan Jr. passed away on October 20th after a brief battle with lung cancer. He was born on July 7, 1967, to Juliette and the late John Donald Coholan Sr. Donnie is survived by his siblings, Sheila (John) Fitzpatrick, Laura (Ross) Coholan-Dowe, and Louis Coholan (Kim). He is also mourned by his nephews John Fitzpatrick (Rebecca), Matthew and Calean Coholan, and his niece Julie Fitzpatrick (Bryan Munn), along with his great nieces Brynn and Reagan Fitzpatrick. Donnie will be remembered fondly by his McGovern family.
Donnie excelled in his career as a hairstylist and was recognized with numerous provincial and national awards for his innovative designs. In his final years, he found solace and belonging with Nakai Salons in Moncton and Saint John, where he considered the Nakai family his own. The creative environment fostered his passion for hairstyling and contributed to his success.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Catherine and Krista from Extra Mural for providing exceptional care to Donnie during his illness. Their unwavering support and dedication were commendable and greatly appreciated by his loved ones.
Arrangements for Donnie’s funeral were entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home located at 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, E2K-3H6, (506-634-7424). In accordance with Donnie’s wishes, cremation and a private family service have already taken place. Those who wish to honor Donnie’s memory can make donations to the Rocmaura Foundation, specifically for the construction of their palliative care unit.
