John Herman Emery, a former resident of Wallaceburg and more recently of Corunna, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the age of 88. He was born and raised in Wallaceburg to parents Herman and Cora Emery. John was a loving husband to Colleen (Lozon) and a devoted father to his sons, Paul Emery and Chris Emery, and their respective spouses, Tricia Welbourn and Nicole (Turner). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, and Clementine. John was preceded in death by his first wife Kathleen (Hockin) in 1967. He leaves behind his sisters Patricia DeWolf (the late Maurice) and Gertrude Coveny (the late John), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

John dedicated 41 years of his life to Waltec Industries, where he spent the last three decades as a salesman. He was widely respected and admired for his contributions to sports, being honored as a player in hockey, baseball, and lacrosse in the Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to John’s niece, Christine Romansky, for her devoted care and support throughout his medical treatments and stays in hospitals and residences. The staff at Albany Residence in Petrolia, Residence on the St. Clair in Sarnia, and the doctors and nurses at Bluewater Health in Sarnia also provided exceptional care for John during his time in their facilities.

As per his wishes, John was cremated and a private family committal service was held at Riverview Cemetery in Wallaceburg. A celebration of his life will be organized at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making memorial donations to the Inn of the Good Shepherd or a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Knight Funeral Home in Corunna. Condolences and messages can be shared at http://www.knightfuneralhome.caKnight or by calling 519-862-2845.
