Joseph obtained his degree in Library Science from the University of British Columbia and went on to work as a librarian in the greater Victoria area. After retiring in the mid-1990s, Joseph and his wife Mickey enjoyed traveling in their camper truck alongside their beloved dog Penny. An accomplished painter, Joseph’s exquisite works adorned the walls of friends, relatives, and the Goward House, where he had formed many close friendships. He had a deep passion for boating and fishing, often entertaining his loved ones on his dependable boat in the waters surrounding Victoria. Known for his kindness and gentle nature, Joseph took great joy in the happiness and achievements of those he cared about.

In his final weeks, Joseph faced numerous health challenges and underwent various treatments at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria. The family expresses deep gratitude to Dr. Grimwood and the entire care team on the 4th floor North for their dedication and support during this difficult time.
