Joyce peacefully passed away at St.Michael’s Care Home in Burnaby. Born in Vancouver as the youngest of four children, she grew up in Williams Lake and Princeton. Joyce later started her own family in East Vancouver and enjoyed several comfortable years in Port Moody, Coquitlam, and Surrey. She is preceded in death by her late partner Jim and her grandson Derek.
Joyce possessed a variety of interests and hobbies. She excelled at swimming in lakes, had a fondness for reading books (often starting with the ending), and loved exploring new lands. Joyce also had a talent for baking delicious treats and took pleasure in walking through the woods. In her free time, she dedicated herself to volunteering, actively participating in the Burnaby Curling Club and the White Rock Lawn Bowling Club. During her later years, Joyce found joy in the company of faithful canine or feline companions. Known for her straightforwardness, she never hesitated to express her thoughts, often accompanied by a mischievous glimmer in her eye.
Left to cherish her memory are her three sons, eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of a traditional memorial service, on November 30, which would have marked Joyce’s 90th birthday, we invite you to honor her by picking up a good book, raising a toast with a glass of wine, enjoying a delicious meal, or sharing a hearty laugh.
