June Young, formerly known as June Collins, was born on June 25, 1936, in Glasgow, Scotland. Tragically, she passed away on July 20, 2023, in Port Elgin. At the age of 15, June immigrated to Canada alongside her younger sister, Irene, to reunite with their father, mother, and siblings, Eric and Sandra, who had already settled in Hamilton. Unfortunately, June had a fall in her home two days prior to her passing, which resulted in a back injury. The pain intensified, and she suddenly passed away while under the care of paramedics. Despite her small stature, June was always actively involved in her community. She dedicated many years to the United Church Women’s group and later became the proud owner of a gift and stationery store. Upon retiring from her business, June and her husband became valued members of a retirement community, where she served as a member and chairperson on the board of directors.
