Kathleen Delahunt

Kathleen Delahunt, a resident of Butler St. Moncton, passed away peacefully at the age of 100 on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Jacquet River NB, she was the beloved daughter of the late Irvin and Anne (Shannon) Hickey.

Kathleen was an active member of St. Augustin’s Catholic Church, where she dedicated her time to the Catholic Women’s League (CWL). She served as the past president and treasurer of the Diocesan of the CWL. One of her notable contributions was her involvement in organizing the Catholic Information Centre, which continues to thrive today. In her leisure time, Kathleen enjoyed activities such as skating, dancing, knitting for both her family and charitable causes, roller skating, playing bridge, and cherishing moments at the family cottage in Point du Chene.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Karen O’Brien (Frank), Brian Delahunt (Heather), Dianne Smith (Ed), Kevin Delahunt (Cheryl), Terry Delahunt (Patti), and Krista Sinton (Shawn). She also leaves behind her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with her sister Monica (Harold) Bourque, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Delahunt (2020), sisters Iva, Inez, Ada, and Theresa, and brothers Owen, Evan, and Irvin (in infancy).

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Fergusons Funeral Home, located at 1657 Mountain Rd. Moncton NB (506-858-1995). A Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 11 am, followed by a reception. Kathleen will be laid to rest at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery in Irishtown.
