Kathryn COTNAM

Kathryn Cotnam (nee Traichevich) of St Thomas, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2023, after displaying incredible courage during her battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family during her final moments. Kathryn was born on September 10, 1953, in St. Thomas, Ontario, to her parents Steve and Ethel Traichevich. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister Janet Traichevich. Kathryn shared 49 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Gord, who was not just her spouse but also her best friend. She was a cherished mother to her daughters Amy Cotnam and Brittany Potvin (Shaun), as well as her fur-baby Max.

Kathryn dedicated 38 years of her life to a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse, primarily working in the ICU and coronary care. Her devotion extended beyond her profession, as she actively participated in charitable organizations such as IODE and the Daughters of the Nile in London and St. Thomas. Those who were close to her, including her sister-in-law Linda Pichette (late Don) and cousin Sandra Boucher, will fondly remember Kathryn. Her passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by her numerous friends and neighbors.

A service to celebrate Kathryn’s life will take place on September 10, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home on 45 Elgin Street in St. Thomas. Prior to the service, visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Attendees are invited to a reception at the Masonic Centre following the service. All family members and friends are welcome to attend and pay their respects. Kathryn’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Hahn, LRCC, Dr. Connie, Meghen Robinson, and nurse Kenzie for their invaluable support during her illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or the Breast Cancer Society of Canada.

Rest in peace, Kathryn Cotnam. May your courage and memory continue to inspire us all.
