Kenneth NEWMAN

Ken Newman, also known as Kenneth Arthur “Ken” Newman, peacefully passed away at the age of 95 on Thursday, August 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at Iler Lodge. He was married to his beloved wife, Ina (nee Ferriss), for an impressive 73 years. Ken was a devoted father to Linda Burling and her husband Bill “Buzz,” as well as to Dan and his wife Kim (nee Ambrose). His grandchildren, Michael Burling (Angela), Marcie Burling (Mark Smith), Carley Yeboah (Mike), Kale Ambrose (Makenna Shaw), Owen Ambrose (Madison Buhler), and his great-grandchildren, Calvin and Jake Burling, Myla Walker-Smith, Kingston and Karter Yeboah, meant the world to him.

Born to Harry and Hazel Newman, Ken was lovingly remembered as the dearest brother of Muriel Mansell (Gord) and Robert Newman (Muriel). Sadly, he was predeceased by his late brother, Donald Newman, as well as his in-laws Glenn and Lula Ferriss. Ken will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, and close family friends who had the privilege of knowing him throughout his life.

During his working years, Ken dedicated more than three decades to General Motors before retiring. However, his true passion lay in farming, having spent his entire life on the family farm. Ken derived immense joy from dancing and cherished his time on the dance floor. Whether it was square dancing or polka, he always found enthusiastic dance partners to join him. His love for the land, his signature dance moves, often accompanied by a cold beer, and most importantly, his profound love for his family, will be deeply missed.

A cremation ceremony has already taken place. Visitation will be held at Reid Funeral Home, 87 Maidstone Ave. E., Essex, on Sunday, August 13, 2023, from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually to honor Ken’s farming background. A private family funeral service is scheduled for Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations to be made to W.E.T.R.A. or Erie Shores Hospice. Friends and family are invited to share their treasured memories online atwww.reidfuneralhome.ca.
