Klaus Paul

Klaus Gerhard Paul, aged 89, of Edmonton, AB, peacefully passed away on November 1, 2023. Born on April 11, 1934, in Königsberg, Germany, he was the beloved son of Albert and Augusta Paul. In 1954, Klaus immigrated to Canada with his parents and brother, settling on a farm near Stettler, AB, where he diligently learned the language while actively working on the farm. Eventually, he secured a job in town, specifically in rink maintenance. It was during this time that he met Pauline and they soon married, subsequently relocating to Edmonton.

Klaus embarked on a remarkable career with the city of Edmonton, which spanned over 30 years. He began his journey at the historic Rossdale power plant and later concluded it at the Genesee power plant. Remarkably, he retired at the youthful age of 55, and in his retirement, he dedicated himself to being a reliable source of assistance for his children and earned a reputation as the dependable neighborhood handyman. Together with Pauline, Klaus spent countless hours tending to their yard, resulting in it boasting the finest lawn in the neighborhood.

Klaus is survived by his cherished children: Jeffery Paul (Gayle), Stephen Paul (Daphne), Nancy Chilcott (Chris), and Ronald Paul (Ellen). Additionally, he leaves behind a loving legacy in the form of numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services to commemorate Klaus’s life will be conducted at Hainstocks Funeral Home, located at 9813 34 Ave NW Edmonton, AB, on November 9, 2023. The visitation will commence at 10 a.m., followed by the services at 11 a.m. Following the service, a light luncheon will be provided at the funeral home, with interment taking place at Rosehill Cemetery, 1605 141 street SW Edmonton.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB). Messages of condolences can be shared with the family through the website http://www.hainstockedmonton.com.
