Lawrence Wilfred Hyttenrauch, also known as Larry, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on August 7, 2023, at the age of 80. This coincided with his 58th wedding anniversary. Larry spent his last moments enjoying quality time at the family cottage with his beloved wife Sandra (Sullivan), their sons Greg and Rob, their wives Alex and Lisa, and their grandchildren Joshua, Caitlin, Lily, and Max.

Larry was born on May 12, 1943, in Windsor, Ontario. He dedicated his entire professional life to serving in the Canadian Army, demonstrating his unwavering commitment. He served as a member of esteemed regiments including the Royal Canadian Dragoons, Lord Strathcona’s Horse, and the Royal Canadian Electrical Mechanical Engineers. After 32 years of exceptional service, Larry retired with the honorable rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.

Above all, Larry held family as his top priority throughout his life. Even in the face of illness, he persisted for over 25 years to create cherished memories with his wife, children, and grandchildren. In fact, he even played his last game of golf, at the age of 79, with his entire family. During the past 17 years, Larry and Sandra established the family cottage as the true sanctuary where lasting memories were made. His absence will be greatly felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 1pm, at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, Ontario. In memory of Larry and his courageous battle, the family kindly encourages donations to the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences can be shared at http://www.beachwoodottawa.ca.
