It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Léo-Paul Viau of Bainsville, who peacefully left this world on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at the Cornwall Community Hospital at the age of 84. Léo-Paul was the loving husband of the late Micheline Viau (née Boudreault) and the cherished father of Gaston Viau (Nicole) and Carole Viau. He took great pride in being Pépere to his grandchildren Sophie Nash (Trevor), Eric (Sarah), and Michel (Katherine), as well as his great-grandchildren Jack and Sam Nash and Evalyn, Madelyn, and Rosalind Viau. Léo-Paul will be deeply missed by his devoted companion, Thérèse Therrien, and is survived by his brothers Marcel (late Bonnie) and Fernand (Sylvia), as well as his sister-in-law Louisette Marleau. He was preceded in death by his parents Elzear and Yvonne Viau (nee Morenger), brothers Joseph (late Audrey), Raoul (late Marie), Antonio (late Hazel), and Armand, and sister Marie Gérard. His memory will be cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., located at 46 Oak St. Lancaster (613-347-3629), on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 6 to 9 p.m., as well as on Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. A Liturgy of the Word will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 10 a.m. Following the service, Léo-Paul will be laid to rest at Notre-Dame Cemetery in Cornwall. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations be made to either the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada. Furthermore, as a lasting tribute to Léo-Paul’s memory, a tree will be planted in a memory woods, symbolizing the growth of memories.
