Léonide Bernard

Leonide Bernard, age 79, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center in Moncton, surrounded by his family. Born in Saint-Paul, he was the son of the late Alfred and Domethilde Bernard (Léger).

Leonide will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Pauline, his daughters Anne Arsenault (Rhéal LeBlanc) and Angèle Arsenault Symes (Robert), and his son Marcel Arsenault (Stephanie Jones), all of Cocagne. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Josée, Monica, Sébastien, Savannah, Vada, Robyn, and Thomas. Leonide’s siblings include Alfreda Henri (late Paul) from Connecticut, Patricia Henri (late Gerald) from Connecticut, Rosa Maillet (Victor) from Coal Branch, Jean-Guy (Nicole) from Saint-Paul, Yvette Richard (Jacques) from Mass, Jean-Noël (Anne-Marie) from Mass, Gilles (Lucille) from Dieppe, and Ernest (Yvonne) from Saint-Paul, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Throughout his life, Leonide worked as a carpenter in the United States for many years. In the last 18 years before his retirement, he worked as a carpenter at Hub Meat Packers. He had a deep love for nature, hunting, and taking walks in the woods. He had a great passion for horses and adored his dog, Sam. Leonide proudly wore his cowboy hat and boots. He was also a big fan of the Montreal Canadiens hockey team.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the palliative care unit and the dialysis unit of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Center for their exceptional care.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the Saint-Paul-de-Kent church (6476, Route 515) from 2:00 PM until the time of the funeral at 4:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Leonide to the CHU Dumont dialysis unit or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. The family invites you to sign an online condolences book at http://www.funerairepassagefuneral.ca.
