Lionel Gravelle

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather at the Golden Manor on Thursday, August 17th, 2023 at the age of 89. Born on [birthdate], our father, [Full Name], was a cherished husband of Therese Gravelle (nee Depatie). He was a loving father to Jacqueline (predeceased), Rachelle, Richard, Suzanne, Ronald, Michelle, Raymond, Jeannine, and Robert.

He leaves behind a legacy as a proud grandfather to Jessica, Robert, Richie, Rodney, Chantal, Nathalie, Joey, Jamie, Meghan, Ronald, Scott, Jason, Sheri, Devin, Marc Jr., Stefanie, Katelynn, Ashley, Amanda, Kyla, and Riley. His great-grandchildren, Koalson, Jax, Tamara, Tanika, Reanna, Paige, Claire, Chardonnay, Charlie, Jonathan, Destany, Jeremy, Hailey, Chase, Leila, Sofie, Emerson, Stella, Hendrick, Emma, Elizabeth, and Katherine, brought him immense joy. Our father adored his nieces and nephews, and they held a special place in his heart.

Family was at the core of our father’s life. He shared a profound love and devotion with his wife of 69 years. Even in his final days, their bond remained strong. Our father’s dedication extended to his children, as he and our mother devoted their lives to us. With both discipline and unwavering loyalty, he ensured we always knew we were loved. He selflessly cared for his mother for many years, and his generosity towards his siblings was evident through the time he dedicated to them.

For 39 years, our father worked diligently for the CNR railways before retiring. In his free time, he enjoyed joining his brothers-in-law at camp and indulging in a little fishing. His favorite pastime, however, was spending time in the bush, cutting firewood, or operating his tractor. We are grateful to the staff at the Golden Manor for their exceptional care and support. In remembrance of our father, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.

As per his wishes, our father was cremated, and a funeral service will be held at the Paroisse Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire in Gogama, Ontario on Saturday, August 26th, 2023, at 11 am. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, located at 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins.
