Lloyd Fennell

Lloyd Scott Fennell, age 75, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023, in Sarnia, Ontario, surrounded by his family. Lloyd was born on September 10, 1948, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, to Morris and May Fennell. He dedicated his life to public service, residing in St. Thomas before settling in Sarnia, where he eventually retired as City Manager.

Lloyd is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Kerry (nee Emery), and his children, Scott (Jen Pott) and Whitney (Marty Allison). His presence will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Thomas Fabian, Lukas Fennell, and Emery Fennell, who fondly remember his love, guidance, amusing Donald Duck voice, and the secret treats he always had on hand. The passing of Lloyd deeply saddens his sister, Nancy Hughes (Charlie), and their entire family, as well as his sisters-in-law, Gaye Emery (John Sandala) of Toronto and Meghan Reid (Phil Reid) of Kingston. Additionally, nieces and nephews, including Charlene Hughes, Peter Hughes, Kate Hughes, Drew Sandala, Keely Sandala, Maureen Dove, Carson Reid, and Liam Reid, mourn his loss.

Known for his grace, kindness, and practicality, Lloyd faced his cancer diagnosis with incredible courage and dignity. Despite his own battle, he remained dedicated to ensuring the well-being of his family, always inspiring love and laughter among those around him. Preceding Lloyd in death are his beloved parents, Morris and May, his sister-in-law, Shawn Emery, and his nephew, Andrew Hughes.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at Smith Funeral Home, located at 1576 London Line, Sarnia. A celebration of Lloyd’s life will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., at Sidepockets, Stoke’s Inland, situated at 1202 Lambton Mall Road, Sarnia ON. In memory of Lloyd, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia, an organization that provided Lloyd with compassionate care during his illness (cheques only at the funeral home, please).
