Lloyd “Griff” Griffin, also known as Roy Lloyd John Griffin, peacefully passed away in his 76th year at the Durham Hospital on July 15, 2023. He is survived by his loving daughter Lisa (Ken) Monk and son Bill (Tara) Griffin. Griff leaves behind a cherished legacy, as he was beloved by his grandchildren Kevin (Shawna), Brett, Leigha (Aaron), Austin, and Ava, as well as his great-grandchildren Ariella and Emmett. He was also a dear brother to Joan (Bill) MacMillan, Harold “Butch” (Marian) Griffin, and Patsy (Carl) Kitchen. Sadly, Griff was predeceased by his parents Harold and Lorna Griffin, as well as his siblings Marie (Dave) Nixon, Wilma (Jim) Lindsay, and Joyce Whiteside. He will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Griff will always be fondly remembered by his former teammates from the Durham 72’s, Priceville, IGA, Duke’s, and many other individuals he crossed paths with throughout his life. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated doctors and nursing staff at the Durham Hospital for their exceptional care. In accordance with Griff’s wishes, his remains have been cremated. A private gathering to honor his memory will be held at a later date.
