Mafalda “Folly” Markle

Mafalda “Folly” Markle (nee Scagnetti) passed away at the age of [AGE] on July 13th, 2023, at her residence in Sudbury. She was born in Garson and spent her whole life in the Sudbury area. Mafalda was the loving mother of Jerrold J. Markle and Marilyn Markle, both of whom had passed away before her. She was the cherished daughter of Beniamino and Cristina Scagnetti (Della Vedova) Scagnetti, who were also predeceased. Mafalda was an adored sister of Ben Scagnetti (wife Helen predeceased), and was predeceased by Lily Scagnetti, Ronald Scagnetti (wife Helen), Diane Dellece (husband Nick), Galdino Scagnetti (wife Norma), as well as Argie, Inez, and Fermino Scagnetti.

During her youth, Mafalda found joy in activities such as golfing, curling, and dancing, remaining fond of the latter throughout her life. She was an active member of various organizations, including St. Patrick’s Church, where she attended faithfully. Mafalda dedicated her time as a life member of the Ladies Caruso Club, a member of the Catholic Women’s League at St. Patrick’s Church, and a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Her family will receive friends at the Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury. Visitation hours are scheduled from 2-4PM and 6-8PM on Monday, with Parish Prayers to be held at 3PM on the same day. The Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023, at 10:30AM at St. Patrick’s Church on 39 Walford Rd., Sudbury. Following the funeral, Mafalda’s remains will be cremated and laid to rest in the family plot at St. John’s Cemetery in Garson. Mafalda leaves behind a devoted brother, Ben Scagnetti, while having been predeceased by Lily Scagnetti, Ronald Scagnetti, Diane Dellece, Galdino Scagnetti, and Argie, Inez, and Fermino Scagnetti.

Throughout her younger years, Mafalda delighted in pursuits such as golfing, curling, and dancing, remaining passionate about dancing her whole life. She actively participated in different organizations, including St. Patrick’s Church, where she was a loyal member. Mafalda held lifelong memberships in the Ladies Caruso Club and the Catholic Women’s League at St. Patrick’s Church, and had formerly been associated with the Royal Canadian Legion. The Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home at 233 Larch Street, Sudbury, will be hosting visitation hours on Monday, from 2-4PM and 6-8PM, during which friends and family may pay their respects.
