Margaret Beverley Joan Green McPhee, formerly known as Margaret Beverley Joan Green, passed away peacefully in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on July 20, 2023, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husbands A.J. Green in June 2001 and Dr. Malcolm McPhee in November 2021. Margaret was a beloved mother to Diana Margaret Green, Melissa Jean Schilf (Roger), and Albert John Green Jr. (Angela). She was also a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Margaret’s sister was Shirley Utronki, and she was preceded in death by her parents Asa and Ena Bowes, as well as her brother Robert Bowes.
Margaret, also known as Beverley, resided in Edmonton, Alberta, but was originally from Pembroke, Ontario. She was born and raised in the Ottawa Valley. Beverley was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a fulfilling career in Nursing, working at the Pembroke Civic Hospital and later teaching at Algonquin College, Pembroke Campus. She also worked with the Victoria Order of Nursing before retiring. Beverley was an active member of Wesley United Church and made significant contributions to her community.
Beverley will be fondly remembered for her kindness, lifelong love of learning, and her passion for baking and cooking. She enjoyed reading, playing Scrabble, and gardening. Beverley had a deep appreciation for journalism and was a talented wordsmith. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Canterbury Court for their compassionate care. A Celebration of Life will be held in Pembroke, Ontario, Canada, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be greatly appreciated by the family.
