Margaret FLEMING

Margaret Fleming, nee Broad, passed away on August 18, 2023, at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital at the age of 98. She was joyfully reunited with her late husband, Norman Fleming, in Heaven. Margaret was a long-time resident of Chartwell LTC in Aylmer and previously lived in Straffordville and Tillsonburg. She was born on December 30, 1924, to Fred and Alice Broad. Margaret’s parents and several family members, including her son Brian Fleming, preceded her in death. Her daughter-in-law, Diana Fleming, survived her, along with several nieces and nephews. Margaret was well-known for her exceptional golfing skills and had won numerous ladies championships at the Tillsonburg Golf Club. In her later years, she enjoyed golfing at the Ingersoll Golf Club. She had also been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had worked at the Delhi Research Station for many years.

As per Margaret’s wishes, her body was cremated. A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, August 31, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m., at the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel in Tillsonburg. A memorial service, led by Chaplain Tina Dias, will follow at 1:00 p.m. The private inurnment at the Springford Cemetery will be held at a later date. The Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes, Tillsonburg, is entrusted with all funeral arrangements. Those who knew Margaret are invited to share their cherished memories, photos, express personal condolences, or contribute memorial donations to “VON Oxford” for the benefit of Sakura House Hospice through the funeral home’s website or by contacting them directly.

The family expresses their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Chartwell LTC in Aylmer for their exceptional care and compassion towards Margaret and their family throughout the last three years.
