Margaret Furlought

With deep sorrow, we mourn the loss of Margaret Furlought, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Margaret peacefully passed away on September 29, 2023, at Mont St. Joseph Home in Prince Albert, SK. She was born in Upsalquitch, NB, to the late Charles Victor Noye and Gertrude Jones and was the second eldest among four siblings. After completing her education, Margaret pursued a career as a teacher, dedicating herself to educating young minds in a one-room schoolhouse.

In Campbellton, NB, Margaret’s life took a beautiful turn when she crossed paths with her soulmate, Donald. They exchanged vows in 1961 and together built a loving family. Their union blessed them with two children, Karl and Carol-Anne, born in 1962 and 1963, respectively. While Donald worked at the Paper Mill, Margaret chose to create a warm and nurturing home in Dalhousie, NB, tending to the needs of her loved ones.

In 1988, Margaret and Donald relocated to Prince Albert, where Donald worked at Prince Albert Pulp and Paper Mill until retirement. As Donald dedicated his time to his profession, Margaret pursued her passion for curling, competing in various communities throughout Saskatchewan. Her competitive spirit shone through as she also enjoyed golfing at Cooke Golf and Curling Club and cultivating her garden with vibrant flowers.

Margaret displayed her compassionate nature by actively volunteering at Victoria Hospital. After Donald’s retirement, the couple generously gave their time to delivering Meals on Wheels. Additionally, Marg lent her skills to the office at Cook Golf and Curling Club for several years. Traveling brought immense joy to Margaret’s life, and she and Donald cherished their winters in Mexico and, later on, in Osoyoos, BC, where they reunited with dear friends.

Margaret was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Gertrude Noye, as well as her siblings, Albert, Lester, and Faye Gauvreau. She also experienced the heartbreaking loss of her son Karl and granddaughter Victoria Margaret. Leaving behind cherishable memories, Margaret is survived and tenderly remembered by her devoted husband of 62 years, Donald; her daughter Carol-Anne of Prince Albert, SK; her grandchildren Allan, Shane, and Olivia from New Brunswick, and Alex and Cassie from Ontario. She is also survived by her aunt, Essie Gallie of Toronto, ON, cousin Jim from Prince George, BC, and many other cherished cousins.

A cremation will be held, and Margaret’s ashes will be laid to rest in the family plot in New Brunswick. A Memorial Service will be arranged at a later date.
