Margaret O’HARA

Margaret O’Hara, born on March 12, 1937, sadly passed away on June 24, 2023. She fought a courageous battle against lung cancer for six years, surrounded by her devoted family, especially her sister Maureen, as well as loving friends and neighbors who provided unwavering support. Margaret faced her illness with remarkable strength, maintaining a delightful sense of humor and resilience throughout.

Originally from Govan, Scotland, Margaret met the love of her life, John, and they exchanged vows in February 1960. Subsequently, they embarked on a new chapter together in Vancouver. Margaret spent many years employed in sales at Woodward’s and later at Eaton’s. Eventually, they settled in Richmond, where Margaret spent her remaining years.

Margaret is preceded in death by her husband John (2009), her father James, her mother Margaret, as well as her brothers Tommy, Jimmy, Joe, Mick, and her sisters Sadie, Betty, and Rena. Jessie, her beloved sister, remains in Scotland, keeping Margaret’s memory alive. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to her oncologists, Dr. Yun and Dr. Ingeldew, her family doctor, Dr. Aucone, the dedicated nursing staff at Richmond General, and all her dear friends for their compassionate care and unwavering kindness over the years.

Although our lives are now dimmed by the absence of Margaret, the radiant light she brought will forever glow in our hearts. Her memory will be cherished, and her profound love will never fade. In accordance with Margaret’s wishes, no service will be held, and her ashes will find their resting place in Scotland. Instead of flowers, the family kindly requests considering a donation to a charity of choice in Margaret’s honor. May she rest in peace, and may the Lord’s footsteps guide us through challenging times and illuminate our lives.
