Maria Pez

Maria Pez, formerly known as Maria Della Savia, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2023 at the age of 94. She will be deeply missed by her loving family. Maria was reunited with her beloved husband, Joseph “Bepi” Pez, who passed away in 1978. She was a devoted mother to her three daughters: Iola Ienna (Lou), Liana Silvaggi (Perry), and Sylvia Brassard (Martin). Maria was also a proud grandmother to Michael (Trish), Joe (Imogen), Andrea (Mimo), Jacey (Allison), Dean, and Renée, and a cherished great-grandmother to Sarah, Leah, and Fitz. Maria had relatives in Italy, U.S.A., and Canada, and her passing leaves a void in their hearts. Born in Beano, Italy, Maria was the daughter of Pio and Lina Della Savia. She was predeceased by her sisters Argia (Bepi) and Romilda (Bruno). Maria also had dear sisters-in-law Ornella (Sante), Bruna (Luigi), and Fiorello. She will be fondly remembered by her close friends Gabriella, Lepa, Emma, and Stella. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dorothy, Greg, and Kim, who kept a watchful eye on Maria while she resided at her home until the age of 91. They also express their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Dolce Vita, as well as the medical teams at WRH, Ouellette Campus, 6 East, Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare, and Transition to Betterness for their exceptional care. Maria was known for her strength, independence, and determination, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel (Central) on Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., with parish prayers at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at Most Precious Blood Church. Interment will be held at Heavenly Rest Cemetery. The family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Transition to Betterness (T2B) or Alzheimer Society of Windsor-Essex County in honor of Maria’s life. Maria will always be remembered for her favorite expression, “What – a – nice.” Condolences and cherished memories can be shared with the family at http://www.windsorchapel.com.
