Marilyn SCHIFF

Marilyn Schiff (née Regenstreif) passed away on August 20, 2023, in Montreal at the age of 90. She was the beloved daughter of Martin and Sara Regenstreif, and the devoted wife of both Dr. Jack Teitelbaum and Tibor Schiff. Marilyn was the loving mother of Fern and George Wachter, Gina and Harry Zelnick, Paul Teitelbaum, and Amy Bortz. She was also a dear sister to Dr. Avrum and Rhoda Regenstreif, and Rebecca Regenstreif. Marilyn cherished her role as a grandmother to Jackie, Brahm, Jennifer, Sharon, Jackson, and Noah, and was immensely proud of her great-grandchildren Lola and Violeta.

Born and raised in Montreal, Marilyn was an esteemed member of the Montreal Jewish Community. Throughout her life, she dedicated herself to giving back to the community in various roles, including as a nurse, hospital administrator, and patron and philanthropist. Marilyn made a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to have crossed her path. She served as a mentor, advisor, and guiding light to her family, friends, and many others. Her presence will be deeply missed by her loved ones, as well as her nieces, nephews, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff who provided exceptional care to Marilyn during her final days. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, at 10:00 a.m. at Paperman & Sons, located at 3888 Jean Talon St. W. in Montreal. Following the service, Marilyn will be laid to rest at the Temple Emanu-El Beth Sholom Congregation Section of Mount Royal Cemetery, situated at 1297 ch. de la Forêt. Shiva will take place at 1455 Sherbrooke St. W. #1102 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday only.
