Marilyn Patricia Haddow Townshend, born on May 20, 1944, tragically lost her battle with cancer on September 19, 2023. Her passing occurred just three days after her son Todd’s birthday. Marilyn peacefully passed away in her sleep following a rapid decline in her health, which began in mid-August.

Having overcome breast cancer twice before, Marilyn was diagnosed with a terminal illness in February of the same year and given three months to live. However, with the help of palliative care, Marilyn valiantly fought back against the illness and experienced a partial recovery that allowed her to spend summer weekends at home. She was known for her kindness and touched the lives of all who knew her, making her untimely departure all the more unfair.

Marilyn is survived by her son Todd, her stepsons Barry and Keith, and her twin sister Maureen Williams. In the afterlife, she reunites with her husband George, her mother and father Leonore and Lewis Haddow, as well as her brothers Regge and Gerry.

During her younger years, Marilyn worked in accounting while raising her son in her parents’ home. It was through a blind date that Marilyn met her soulmate, George Townshend, whom she married in 1980. They shared many joyful years together until George’s passing in 2004. Todd returned home four years later and cared for his mother until her final days.

Marilyn Townshend will be deeply missed by the Antler Lake community, where she was known for her involvement with the seniors club and her warm and friendly personality. A memorial service to bid farewell to Marilyn will be held on Sunday, October 29, at the Antler Lake Community Hall.
